Univ.-Asst. Prof. Dr.

H. Miri

Dr. Miri is currently an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at CMKL University in Bangkok, Thailand. Prior to joining CMKL, he has studied, researched, taught, and worked in 8 countries; particularly after completing his Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2012, he has worked in several academic positions, as well as a few stints in industry. His research interests and previous works span a wide range of topics. He is currently involved in teaching and research and development work in Technology-enabled Education, Personalized Healthcare Platforms, Immersive Digital Twins, Human-Computer Interaction, Mixed Reality Applications, Holographic Computing, as well as Interactive and Adaptive Information Visualization. So far, a fruitful 25-year service and tenure in Higher Education and Academia, a diverse professional background including various academic roles and experience in industry settings, a Ph.D. in Computer Science, a published book, and an assistant professorship at CMKL; all together form the basis of his humble claim to fame! ⚕️ In July 2023, Dr. Miri secured funding for an R&D project that CMKL is soon embarking on, dubbed HoloGrad. He is the Principal Investigator, leading a team of experts at CMKL. Collaborating on this project are Dr. Teekakirikul, a Cardiologist and Medical Geneticist at Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok, along with his colleagues from the Genomic Medicine Institute of Bumrungrad. HoloGrad proposes to design and develop a personalized, user-centered, and interactive health information system that employs a holographic visualization interface to allow 3D interactions with mixed-reality views within the field of genetics, in order to support the presentation and delivery of specialized information to patients in a clear and comprehensible manner. The final product will comprise a visualization cockpit integrated into Extended Reality headsets (such as HoloLens & Oculus) creating a flexible and interactive holographic display as a visual aid to convey personalized information. HoloGrad has the potential to bridge the gap in patient education, further the utilization of 3D holographic visualization technology in the area of Genetics, and thus boost its impact on personalized healthcare as well as education in Thailand.
