CMKL is an independent university in Thailand with its own degrees, curriculum, and governance — it is not a CMU campus. The only CMU-associated program at CMKL is the ECE dual-degree program (M.S./Ph.D.), delivered jointly across CMU Pittsburgh and CMKL Bangkok as an official CMU ECE location.
A strong math and science foundation helps for AiCE. The M.S. in AiCE accepts any bachelor's discipline. CMKL uses holistic admissions: curiosity, drive, and resilience matter as much as academic background.
Yes, and this is a deliberate choice. CMKL believes no single score or grade tells the full story of someone's potential. Admissions is holistic — we look at who a student is, their curiosity, drive, resilience, and way of thinking, alongside their academic background. Students from diverse learning paths are genuinely welcome and competitive here.
Most CMKL programs accept TOEFL iBT 70+, IELTS 6.0+, or Duolingo 105+. The CMU–CMKL ECE Dual Degree (M.S. and Ph.D.) follows CMU’s higher standard: TOEFL iBT 86+ with subscores Reading 22 / Listening 22 / Speaking 20 / Writing 22; IELTS 7.0+ with subscores Reading 6.5 / Listening 6.5 / Speaking 6 / Writing 6; or Duolingo 115+ with subscores Literacy 105 / Comprehension 115 / Production 90 / Conversation 95. If you have attended an institution in an English-speaking country, you may be eligible for an English requirement waiver.
Yes. CMKL is an officially authorized, degree-granting university in Thailand, complying with all regulatory requirements for higher-education institutions. CMKL graduates have secured roles at leading technology companies and continued to graduate studies at top global universities.
Only if you enroll in the AiCE × CIE Dual Bachelor's program. In that case, you receive two degrees: a B.Eng. in AI & Computer Engineering from CMKL, and a B.Eng. in Computer Innovation Engineering from KMITL. The standard AiCE single-degree track results in a CMKL degree only.
No separate application needed. Scholarship consideration is built into the standard admissions review. If eligible, the scholarship offer comes alongside your admission decision. Financial support is most accessible for students applying in the first admission round — early applicants receive first consideration.
CMKL does not train students to use specific tools — it builds durable capabilities: problem-solving, learning agility, execution under constraints, communication, and responsible judgment. These skills remain valuable even as tools, job titles, and industry trends shift. Students graduate with the resilience to thrive in environments that don't yet exist.
CMKL is intentionally designed to be high-support. Students learn in a close community with approachable faculty, frequent structured feedback through project work, and clear guidance at every stage. The 1:7 faculty-to-student ratio makes this practical, not just a promise. Students build independence over time while feeling genuinely supported throughout.
