CMKL Expands Global Research Pathways Through Student Internship at Fukuoka Institute of Technology

Two third-year students from CMKL University’s AI and Computer Engineering program have been selected to participate in a research internship at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Fukuoka Institute of Technology in Japan, strengthening CMKL’s international research engagement and expanding hands-on learning opportunities for students.

The participating students, Supakorn “Jack Jack” Etitum and Uea-angkun “Im” Sriviriyalertkul, will work under the supervision of Associate Professor Dr. Yutaka Yamaguchi during the spring internship period. The opportunity follows the Memorandum of Understanding between CMKL University and Fukuoka Institute of Technology, which supports academic collaboration, research exchange, and student mobility between the two institutions.

For CMKL, Thailand’s No.1 AI & Innovation University, international research experiences are an important part of preparing students to apply AI, computer engineering, and systems thinking beyond the classroom. Through research-based learning, students gain exposure to how technical knowledge is developed, tested, and applied across different academic and cultural environments.

Upon arrival at FIT, the students were welcomed by Mr. Tetsuya Otani, Manager of International Affairs, and Ms. Keiko Yoshii, Assistant Manager of International Affairs, whose support helped set the foundation for a productive and meaningful research experience.

The internship offers students the opportunity to deepen their technical understanding while engaging with Japan’s academic research environment. In addition to developing research skills, the students will gain cross-cultural experience that can broaden their perspectives as emerging engineers and AI professionals.

CMKL’s AI and Computer Engineering program emphasizes hands-on learning, collaborative research, and real-world implementation. Opportunities such as the FIT research internship allow students to build practical research competencies, strengthen global perspectives, and bring new insights back to the CMKL community.

As CMKL continues to build international partnerships, the university aims to create more pathways for students to engage in meaningful research, collaborate across borders, and contribute to the future of AI, engineering, and innovation in Thailand and beyond.
