From Data to Customer Experience: CP Axtra and CMKL Explore the Future of Retail AI

CMKL University welcomed senior executives from CP Axtra PCL for a special session on the future of retail, digital transformation, and AI-driven innovation, offering students and faculty direct insight into how technology is changing one of Thailand’s most dynamic industries.

The session featured Mr. Tanit Chearavanont, Group Chief Wholesale Business Officer and Group Chief Commercial Officer, and Mr. Tirayu Songwetkasem, Chief Digital Officer, who shared perspectives with CMKL students, faculty, and staff on the evolving role of digital technology in retail and business transformation.

For CMKL University, Thailand’s No.1 AI & Innovation University, industry engagement is a core part of preparing students to apply AI, engineering, and systems thinking in real-world contexts. The discussion with CP Axtra gave students an opportunity to better understand how organizations are using technology to respond to changing consumer behavior, improve operations, and create new possibilities for innovation.

The event featured a panel discussion led by Tianwei Jing, CMKL faculty member, and Suppawat Rattanalaor (Gluy), a freshman student in the AI and Computer Engineering (AiCE) program. The conversation explored the future of retail, the impact of AI on industry transformation, and the skills students will need to contribute meaningfully to technology-driven organizations.

A Q&A session followed, opening dialogue between CP Axtra leaders and the CMKL community. Students, faculty, and staff engaged in discussion on industry trends, digital transformation, career pathways, and potential areas for future collaboration.

The session reflects CMKL’s commitment to connecting academic learning with industry practice. By bringing students into conversation with senior leaders and practitioners, CMKL aims to help future AI and engineering professionals understand not only how technologies are built, but how they are applied to solve business and societal challenges.

CMKL University extends its appreciation to CP Axtra PCL, Mr. Tanit Chearavanont, and Mr. Tirayu Songwetkasem for sharing their experience with the CMKL community and supporting meaningful exchange between industry leaders and emerging innovators.

As AI continues to shape retail, commerce, logistics, and customer experience, CMKL will continue to create opportunities for students to learn from industry, engage with real challenges, and contribute to Thailand’s innovation ecosystem.
