When AI Becomes a Creative Partner: CMKL Explores the Future of Human-AI Collaboration

CMKL University continued its AI Exploration Friday series with a June session focused on human-AI creative collaboration, bringing together students, high school learners, technology enthusiasts, and members of the public at C-ASEAN Samyan CO-OP to examine how artificial intelligence is reshaping the way people create.

Under the theme “Human/AI Creative Collaboration,” the session explored a central question facing today’s creative and technology sectors: How far can AI extend the boundaries of human creativity? Through talks, demonstrations, and accessible explanations of emerging AI concepts, participants saw how AI is moving beyond simple content generation into more interactive forms of collaboration across film, design, illustration, writing, music, digital art, and game development.

The session reflects CMKL University’s commitment to making AI education practical, interdisciplinary, and accessible. As Thailand’s No.1 AI & Innovation University, CMKL integrates AI as a foundation for learning, research, and real-world implementation. AI Exploration Friday is designed to help learners and the wider public understand not only what AI can do, but how it can be applied responsibly and creatively in real-world contexts.

Dr. Pisut Wisessing, CMKL faculty member in Creative Technology, led the session “From Script to Screen with AI,” guiding participants through the rapid evolution of AI-assisted creative production. He shared how AI tools are now influencing filmmaking, design, and illustration, from early experiments in generated images to today’s workflows where AI can support multiple stages of creative production.

By grounding complex technologies in practical creative use cases, Dr. Pisut helped participants understand how AI can serve as a partner in the creative process, supporting ideation, visualization, iteration, and production while keeping human judgment and artistic direction at the center.

The session continued with Justin Paulsen, CMKL faculty member in Gaming and Creative, who presented a live demonstration on building a game from scratch with AI as a real-time collaborator. The demonstration showed how AI can assist with idea generation, game mechanics, visual direction, and development workflows, allowing participants to see how creative and technical problem-solving can happen together in an AI-assisted environment.

Beyond the creative demonstrations, the workshop also introduced key concepts including machine learning, agentic AI, and MCP in plain, accessible language. Rather than presenting AI as a distant or abstract technology, the session connected these ideas to everyday creative tools and emerging professional practices.

Participants left the session with new perspectives on how AI may shape the future of creative work, along with certificates recognizing their participation. For high school students exploring future academic pathways, as well as members of the public interested in technology and creativity, the session offered a hands-on look at how AI is becoming part of the creative process.

AI Exploration Friday is part of CMKL’s broader effort to build AI literacy and inspire the next generation of innovators. By connecting students, educators, creators, and the public with practical AI applications, CMKL continues to support Thailand’s growing innovation ecosystem and prepare learners to use AI not as a replacement for human creativity, but as a powerful collaborator in building new ideas.

MunchBox: From Paper Receipts to Smarter Restaurant Inventory

For many small restaurants, inventory management still depends on manual tracking, experience, and guesswork. Owners and staff may know what sells, but turning daily orders into ingredient-level planning can be difficult. Without better data, restaurants risk overstocking, running out of ingredients, or generating avoidable food waste.
