In the rapidly evolving realm of software development, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques with model-based software engineering (MBSE) and data science offers an evolutionary approach to designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software systems. This lecture delves into the transformative potential of this union and its impact on the education and career opportunities of young software engineers and data scientists.

Under the topic of "AI-supported and model-based Software Engineering" we'll begin with a brief introduction to MBSE (and the RAISED project). With its inherent capacity to provide high-level system abstractions through models, MBSE offers a structured approach to software design and validation.Transitioning to AI's role, we'll explore how tools like chatGPT can augment the MBSE processes. From automated code generation and error detection to sophisticated requirement analysis and design optimization, AI introduces a new paradigm of efficiency and capability. A real-world example is used to make the topics more tangible. At the end, the question will be discussed: what is the impact of AI-based software engineering and data science? What does it mean for educational institutions and the careers of young graduates of computer and data science? By the close of the lecture, attendees will have a clearer insight into how AI-supported, model-based approaches are paving the way for the next generation of software engineering, presenting both challenges and unparalleled opportunities.

Meet our Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Roland Petrasch, born in 1965 in Berlin, Germany, studied mathematics and worked for the private sector, e.g., Nixdorf, Lufthansa. He earned his Ph.D. degree in 1999 (University of Potsdam, Department of Computer Science). From 1999, he was a professor at a private university of Applied Sciences. Since 2003 he is a professor for software engineering at the University BHT Berlin. He wrote and published various books about software engineering, quality management and model-driven software development. He was a speaker at national and international conferences, e.g. JavaOne (USA), CeBit (Germany), JCSSE, MITiCON (Thailand).
