Documents required to open an account
Bring the following documents (originals plus copies) when visiting the branch:
1. National ID Card (or Passport for international students)
2. Copy of National ID Card (or Passport)
3. University-issued document confirming your enrolment (request from the Hub Office at [email protected])
4. Student ID Card
5. Copy of Student ID Card
Some banks may also ask for proof of address in Thailand (a dorm contract or rental agreement is fine) and an initial deposit of 100–500 THB.
How to open the account
1. Pick a bank — Bangkok Bank, Kasikornbank (KBank), Krungthai Bank (KTB), Siam Commercial Bank (SCB), TMBThanachart (TTB), and Bank of Ayudhya (Krungsri) all accept student accounts.
2. Visit a branch in person during business hours (typically Mon–Fri 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, with shopping-mall branches open weekends). Bring all documents listed above.
3. Fill out the account-opening form provided by the teller. Choose between a basic savings account and a debit-card-enabled account.
4. Make the initial deposit, sign the signature card, and collect your passbook and ATM/debit card. The mobile-banking app can usually be activated on the spot.
If you need a Thai-speaking buddy to come along, the Hub Office can arrange one — email [email protected].
