Dress Code Policy
At CMKL University, we promote a respectful, inclusive, and professional learning environment. While there is no mandatory school uniform, students are expected to dress appropriately for academic and university-related settings.
We are a gender-inclusive institution—there are no gender-based dress requirements. Students are encouraged to express their identity through their clothing, as long as it aligns with the university’s standards of respect, safety, and professionalism.
CMKL values individuality, cultural expression, and student comfort—while encouraging a standard of professionalism that reflects positively on both the individual and the university. The way you present yourself not only represents who you are but also shapes how guests, visitors, and external partners perceive you and our academic community. This helps maintain a respectful, inclusive, and professional environment for all.
Appropriate Attire
Students should wear clothing that is:
- Neat, clean, and presentable
- Modest and respectful of cultural and individual diversity
- Safe and practical, especially for lab-based or technical activities
Important: Flip-flops or beach-style sandals are discouraged, particularly in classrooms, labs, or formal and professional settings.
Prohibited Clothing
To maintain a safe and respectful environment, students should not wear:
- Clothing with offensive language, discriminatory symbols, or inappropriate imagery
- Items that promote illegal activity or violence
- Attire that is overly revealing or disruptive to the academic atmosphere
- Flip-flops or footwear that may pose safety concerns or appear too casual for the context
Important: Students may be asked to change or leave campus if their attire is deemed inappropriate.
Special Events & Guest Visits
When attending official university events, ceremonies, or when guests are visiting campus, students are expected to:
- Dress appropriately for the occasion
- Wear business casual or professional attire if required
- Follow event-specific dress codes shared by organizers
Off-Campus Activities, Visits, and Field Trips
For university-related activities conducted outside the campus, such as:
- Site visits
- Company tours
- Academic field trips
- Public or industry events
Students must dress in a way that reflects the university's professionalism. This means:
- Wearing attire appropriate to the event or venue being visited
- Avoiding overly casual outfits (e.g., flip-flops, short shorts, graphic tees with inappropriate content)
- Following any dress requirements communicated by faculty or program staff
Important: Students represent CMKL University during these activities and are expected to uphold its image.
