Students who need to leave the university, either temporarily for a leave of absence or permanently through withdrawal, must first consult their faculty advisor to discuss their plans. Following the proper procedures ensures a smooth transition and helps mitigate any academic or financial concerns. This process includes providing guidance on the consequences of withdrawal, ensuring all necessary steps are completed, and addressing concerns related to future academic or financial matters.
Requesting a Leave of Absence
Students may take a temporary leave of absence for personal, academic, or financial reasons. Before taking a leave, students must consult with their academic advisor to discuss their plans and any conditions required for a successful return. A Leave of Absence Form must be completed and submitted to the CUBE Office for processing.
Students may either
- Withdraw from CMKL with no intention of returning, requiring the completion of a Program Withdrawal Form.
- Take a leave of absence with the firm intention of returning, requiring a Leave of Absence Form.
Failure to complete the leave process formally may result in tuition charges up to the midpoint of the semester or the last academically related activity attended, such as an exam, tutorial, study group, or class assignment submission.
Important Notes:
- A fee is required to maintain student records and technological services during the leave period.
- International students must consult the CUBE Office to understand the impact on their student visa status, as taking a leave will result in the loss of their educational visa and require them to leave Thailand.
- Students on leave are not permitted to attend classes, live in university accommodation, or work as students at CMKL during their leave, in accordance with university regulations.
- IT services will be terminated within fourteen days, or two weeks, following the effective date of resignation.
Returning from a Leave of Absence
Students who wish to return after taking a leave of absence must submit a Petition for Return Form at least one month before the semester they plan to resume studies. The approval of re-entry depends on the duration of leave and academic standing.
Conditions for Return:
- Students on leave for two semesters or less may return without reapplying.
- Students on academic probation must undergo a new interview before resuming studies.
- Students on leave for more than two semesters must reapply to the program.
- Students who wish to return after two years or more may face space restrictions and an academic performance review.
